SHE WAS FORCED TO MARRY THE “PIG BILLIONAIRE” TO PAY OFF HER FAMILY’S DEBTS — BUT ON THE NIGHT OF…

For the first three months of their marriage, Clara lived as though she were walking through a test she had never agreed to take.

Every morning, she woke before sunrise.

She prepared Don Baste’s breakfast exactly as he requested it. She helped arrange his clothes. When he complained that his shoes were uncomfortable, she knelt beside his wheelchair and loosened them.

Sometimes he deliberately dropped things.

Sometimes he demanded dinner and then announced he wasn’t hungry.

Sometimes he spoke sharply to her just to see what she would do.

But Clara never insulted him.

She never mocked his appearance.

And most importantly, she never pretended to love him for his money.

One evening, Don Baste placed a velvet box on the table.

Inside was a diamond necklace.

It was enormous.

Clara stared at it.

“Do you like it?” he asked.

“It is beautiful.”

“Then take it.”

Clara closed the box.

“No.”

His eyebrows rose.

“Why?”

“Because I haven’t earned it.”

Don Baste laughed.

“You’re my wife. Everything I own can be yours.”

Clara shook her head.

“I married you because my father put me in an impossible situation. I won’t lie about that.”

His smile disappeared.

She continued.

“But you’ve never harmed me. You’ve given me a home. So I’ll treat you with dignity. That’s what I can honestly give you.”

For perhaps the first time in years, Don Baste had no clever response.

That night, after Clara went to sleep, he wheeled himself into his private study.

Then something strange happened.

He stood up.

Without difficulty.

He walked across the room.

And when he reached the mirror, he stared at the face Clara believed belonged to her husband.

Then he began removing it.

Don Baste Was Hiding Something Almost Nobody Knew

The scars were theatrical prosthetics.

The enormous belly was a carefully constructed padded suit hidden beneath specially tailored clothing.

The wheelchair was real.

But he didn’t need it.

Even the constant sweating was partly created by the heavy layers he wore beneath his clothes.

The transformation took hours to apply properly.

And beneath all of it was a completely different man.

His real name was still Sebastian Montemayor.

His fortune was real.

His companies were real.

But the public image he’d created was not.

Sebastian was thirty-eight years old, healthy and athletic.

So why would a billionaire deliberately make himself look like someone society would ridicule?

The answer began years before Clara ever met him.

The Woman Sebastian Almost Married

At twenty-nine, Sebastian had been engaged to a woman named Isabella.

He believed she loved him.

He bought her gifts.

Introduced her to his family.

Put her name beside his at charity events.

Then Sebastian’s company suffered a serious financial crisis.

Rumors spread that he might lose everything.

Within three weeks, Isabella disappeared.

Not only did she leave—Sebastian later discovered she had been secretly seeing one of his wealthy business associates.

Months afterward, Sebastian’s companies recovered.

His fortune grew larger than before.

And suddenly Isabella wanted him back.

That experience poisoned something inside him.

He began wondering whether anyone around him cared about Sebastian the person—or Sebastian the bank account.
