SHE WAS FORCED TO MARRY THE “PIG BILLIONAIRE” TO PAY OFF HER FAMILY’S DEBTS — BUT ON THE NIGHT OF…

“You don’t have to pretend.”

“I’ve eaten worse.”

“Where?”

“My own kitchen.”

She laughed so hard she covered her mouth.

Sebastian stared at her.

And suddenly he knew.

If he didn’t tell her that night, every additional day would become another lie.

“Clara.”

Something in his voice made her stop smiling.

“What?”

“I need to show you something.”

He wheeled himself toward the private elevator.

“Come with me.”

The Room Clara Had Never Entered

There was one room in the mansion Sebastian always kept locked.

He told Clara it contained confidential business documents.

That wasn’t entirely false.

But it also contained the equipment used to create Don Baste.

Clara stepped inside.

She saw wigs.

Prosthetic materials.

Special makeup.

Padding.

Medical-grade adhesives.

And photographs.

Dozens of photographs.

All of Sebastian.

Except the man in the photographs looked nothing like her husband.

Clara picked one up.

A tall, muscular man stood beside a yacht.

She looked at Sebastian.

“Who is this?”

He didn’t answer.

Instead, he locked the door.

Then stood.

Clara screamed.

She backed against the wall.

“What are you doing?”

Sebastian slowly removed the outer shirt.

Then the padded layer beneath it.

The enormous stomach disappeared.

Clara’s hands flew to her mouth.

“No.”

“Clara—”

“What is happening?”

He reached toward his face.

“Please don’t be afraid.”

He carefully loosened the prosthetic material along his cheek.

The scar began peeling away.

Clara stared.

Piece by piece, the face she had known for a year disappeared.

When Sebastian finally turned toward her again, Clara could barely speak.

The man standing before her was the man from the photographs.

“You can walk.”

“Yes.”

“You’re not—”

“No.”

Her eyes filled with tears.

“Was any of it real?”

Sebastian’s voice broke.

“My name. My businesses. My fortune. My feelings for you.”

Clara slapped him.

The sound echoed through the room.

Sebastian didn’t move.

“You tested me?”

“Yes.”

“For a year?”

“Yes.”

“You let me wash your feet.”

His eyes dropped.

“Yes.”

“You made me feed you.”

“Yes.”

“You let everyone laugh at me.”

“I did.”

Clara began crying.

Sebastian took a step forward.

She immediately stepped backward.

“Don’t touch me.”

He stopped.

The Revelation Didn’t Make Clara Fall in Love

It made her leave.

That was the part Sebastian hadn’t anticipated.

He had imagined shock.

Anger.

Perhaps eventually relief.

Instead, Clara packed a suitcase.

“You wanted to know whether I cared about your appearance,” she told him.

“You have your answer.”

“Clara, please.”

“But you never asked whether I cared about being lied to.”

Sebastian couldn’t answer.

“You weren’t testing whether I was good,” she continued. “You were testing how much humiliation I would tolerate.”

That sentence destroyed every justification he had built.

Clara removed her wedding ring.

She placed it on the table.

“I need to know whether anything in my life belongs to me.”

Then she left.

Sebastian Finally Did Something He Should Have Done a Year Earlier

He stopped controlling the outcome.

He didn’t send guards after her.

He didn’t threaten her father.

He didn’t freeze her accounts.

He didn’t arrive with diamonds.

Instead, he contacted an attorney.

He formally canceled her father’s remaining debt.
