Ingredients
- 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough, 8 rolls each
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- Optional: chopped green onions or a pinch of red pepper flakes
How to Make Sausage & Cheese Crescent Rolls
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small crumbles. Continue cooking until there is no pink remaining and the sausage reaches 160°F (71°C). Drain excess grease and allow it to cool slightly.
While still warm, combine the cooked sausage with the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder and black pepper. Stir until creamy and evenly combined.
Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into triangles.
Place about 1–2 tablespoons of sausage mixture near the wide end of each triangle. Don’t overfill them or the filling may escape during baking.
Starting at the wide end, gently roll each triangle toward the point to create the classic crescent shape.
Arrange the rolls on your prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
Whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water and lightly brush it over the tops. This is optional, but it gives the rolls that beautiful glossy golden finish.
Bake for approximately 11–15 minutes, or until puffed and deeply golden brown.
