Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cake Pan

Choose a rectangular loaf pan approximately 25 × 10 cm.

Line the bottom and sides with parchment paper or food-safe plastic wrap.

Leave some extra material hanging over the edges so you can lift the cake out easily after chilling.

A loaf pan is ideal because it helps create straight sides and neat biscuit layers.

If you want a larger cake, you can use a rectangular baking dish and adjust the quantities accordingly.

Step 2: Melt the Chocolate

Break the dark chocolate and milk chocolate into small pieces.

Place them in a heatproof bowl.

In a small saucepan, warm the heavy cream over medium-low heat until it begins to steam.

Do not allow it to boil vigorously.

Pour the warm cream over the chopped chocolate.

Let it stand for approximately two minutes, then stir gently until smooth.

Add the butter, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt.

Continue stirring until the mixture becomes glossy and evenly combined.

If necessary, warm the bowl gently over a pan of simmering water to melt any remaining chocolate pieces.

Allow the chocolate mixture to cool slightly before assembling the cake.

Step 3: Create the First Chocolate Layer

Spread a thin layer of the chocolate mixture across the bottom of the prepared loaf pan.

Use the back of a spoon or a small spatula to distribute it evenly.

This layer helps create a smooth chocolate surface when the cake is removed from the pan.

Avoid making the first layer too thick.

A thin, even coating is enough.

Step 4: Arrange the Biscuits

Place a layer of rectangular butter biscuits over the chocolate.

Arrange them side by side, covering as much of the surface as possible.

Depending on the dimensions of your pan, you may need to break a few biscuits to fill smaller spaces.
